Hey there!

My name is Melissa and I love to work with neurodivergent adults, queer folks, nontraditional relationships, and those in the kink community - especially if they are navigating big changes like dating, divorce, late diagnosis, or evolving identity and belief systems. I’ve been there! I dug myself out and became a therapist to help others who feel burdened by the weight of performing a version of themselves that was built for everyone else. I’m an LPC Associate supervised by Kimberly Watts Hoggatt, JD, MA, LPC-S.

In general, I’m more of a “Take Your Shoes Off-Cussing in Session” therapist than an “Assigning Homework-Structured Approach” one. Neither is better or worse – what’s important is what YOU are looking for.

I believe the most powerful aspect of therapy is a strong, authentic therapeutic relationship. I practice from a strengths-based, holistic, and non-pathologizing approach, and believe someone’s personal, cultural, and socioeconomic context must inform their diagnosis and treatment. I draw eclectically from ACT, DBT, existential therapy, feminist theory, and solution-focused brief counseling based on each client's needs and goals.

Outside of sessions, I love to spend time with my people and my cats. You might also find me reading smut or nonfiction. Other current interests of mine are trying to cook more often, expanding my emergency preparedness, and soon, I’m hoping to plan my next tattoo!
